Kop legend John Aldridge believes Liverpool have been handed a tough start to the 2009-10 Barclays Premier League season - but he is relishing the prospect of exacting revenge on Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds will travel to White Hart Lane on the opening day of the campaign looking to avenge last season's 2-1 defeat in the corresponding fixture.
"It's going to be a tough start - Tottenham away on the opening day of the season is not ideal," Aldridge told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"Even though it's tough, we've got to play someone on the opening day so we have to get on with it.
"On the other hand, Tottenham are likely to make several changes to their squad over the summer and the new players that come in could take some time to settle into the team, so it could be a good time to play them.
"Last season we gave one of our finest performances of the entire campaign at White Hart Lane, but we still got beat there. A bit of vengeance would be nice for us."
Aldridge feels it is crucial Liverpool repeat last season's unbeaten start to the campaign in order to mount another title challenge.
"Tottenham apart, you look at the rest of Liverpool's opening fixtures and you have to believe they're all winnable," added the Anfield icon.
"We'll play the likes of Stoke, Burnley and Hull in the first few weeks and we need to be picking up three points in those matches.
"However, I think the month of October looks a real tough one. It's the month that stood out for me initially with four big games against Chelsea, Sunderland, Manchester United and Fulham.
"But a good start is important because it keeps you right up there at the top of the table and means you're not chasing teams above you.
"We got off to a flying start last season and it's vital we repeat that again this time around."
One of the most eye-catching fixtures is Chelsea's visit to Anfield in the penultimate league clash of the season and Aldridge is already anticipating a mammoth contest.
Aldo said: "Our run-in is not bad. After Manchester United away, all our matches appear winnable - but the Chelsea game stands out.
"I feel that match is going to be massive and a pivotal one for either or both teams.
"It could be the match that decides who is going to go on and win the title. It may well be the game of the season."
The 'big four' aside, Aldridge is tipping another team to potentially emerge as a major threat in the division.
"I think Manchester City are going to be a banana skin for all the teams this season," he admitted.
"If Mark Hughes can get the right blend of players in this summer and they click together, City could make a big impression this campaign.
"I've got a feeling they could prove to be tough opposition for all of the top teams."
